Therapy for humans navigating the wild ride of living
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
- Mary Oliver
Some days you’re thriving — inspired, capable, connected.
Other days it’s like What happened?
We get blindsided by stress, loss, self-doubt, relationship messiness, rough worklife, family stuff, or just plain exhaustion.
And sometimes, life just feels dull — like you’re doing all the right things but just not feeling much of anything.
You’re not broken. You’re human.
Good therapy can help you understand yourself better, feel steadier, and allow you to start creating the life you actually want — not just the one you’ve been slogging through or merely tolerating.
You’re already doing a lot of things right. I’m certain of it. Now let’s work on the places that still feel hard, confusing, or stuck.
How about now?
What’s bringing you to therapy?
You don’t have to do this alone
Maybe you’ve been holding it together for a long time — showing up, doing well in some areas, keeping the plates spinning, staving off a crash of sorts. On the outside, it looks like you’re doing fine. Inside, though, it just might feel like too much sometimes.
Maybe you feel stuck, restless, or disconnected from the parts of you that once felt alive, creative, excited, hopeful. Maybe you’ve started to notice how some entrenched patterns — people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-criticism, procrastination, staying super busy or hiding out or using — that once helped you survive are now getting in the way of your ability to thrive. Welcome to the stuff of therapy!
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a space where you can be honest, open, curious — and get the support you want, need, and deserve.
That’s exactly why I offer these services.
Individual Therapy
Let’s help you understand yourself better — feel better, function better, and connect more deeply with the people and goals that matter most to you.
We’ll look at what’s working in your life and where you’re feeling stuck, then collaborate on a plan that helps you rise to your challenges, make sense of your experiences, and build a more satisfying, balanced life.
I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches — including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR — to create a process that fits you.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. We’ll find what works best for you.
Couples Therapy
Connecting with another person in a romantic partnership can be one of the most meaningful experiences in our lives. And yet even strong, loving couples can find themselves stuck in the same painful arguments — saying things they don’t mean, feeling hurt and misunderstood, wondering why it keeps happening.
In our work together, we’ll slow things down so you can understand what’s really driving these reactions — the needs, fears, and long-standing patterns underneath the surface. When partners learn to see the cycle instead of blaming each other, things begin to shift.
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I help couples recognize their patterns, communicate with more clarity and compassion, and reconnect in ways that feel safer and more supportive.
Couples therapy allows a space to repair, to understand ourselves and each other more deeply, and to build a more secure, resilient closeness — even in the midst of conflict.
FAQ

I work with people navigating ADHD challenges, overwhelm, burnout, creative blocks, relationship stress, sexuality, gender identity, and the lingering impact of growing up with emotionally immature, unpredictable, or critical caregivers. I also support people who feel “stuck” in patterns they can’t quite name — perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, or difficulty setting boundaries.

The best way is for us to talk. Let’s set up a 20-minute consultation by phone so we can discuss what you’re looking for and what has felt hard or confusing. You’ll get a sense of my style, and we’ll decide together whether we’re a good fit. If I’m not the right therapist for you, I’m always happy to help direct you to other therapists or other resources.

Therapy with me is like an ongoing conversation, highly collaborative, and tailored to your needs. We explore both the practical and the emotional — the patterns shaping your life, the tools that help you stay grounded, and the possibilities you want to move toward. I work toggling back and forth between acceptance (how and why you got here) and change (how you can do different things to get different results). I integrate several different therapeutic approaches (IFS, DBT, SFBT, EFT, ACT) in a way that is most effective for your, based on your unique mind and story, and your goals for our work together.

Yes. In fact, at this moment, I see clients exclusively online, using a secure telehealth platform that allows us to meet regularly via video chat. In many ways, as i hear from many clients, online sessions work out better, allowing you to participate in therapy from the comfort of your own home, vehicle, from anywhere in Colorado. No commute necessary, and you can stay comfy in your own space (think: pillows, beverages, cats, etc.).

I work with clients who pay directly out of pocket (via credit or debit card stored securely in your client portal). I charge $150 per 60-minute session for individual therapy, and $200 per 60-minute session for couples therapy. I don’t accept insurance, at least not at this moment. It is possible you may be able to get reimbursed through your insurance plan if you have one that covers therapy and will pay for care from “out of network” providers, but I can’t guarantee that.

Most clients meet with me weekly or biweekly, depending on their needs and goals. We’ll collaborate to determine a rhythm that feels right for you, supportive without being overwhelming. Therapy is a process; we can adjust as we progress together.

The first session is a chance for you to share what’s been going on and what you hope will change. We’ll talk through your history, your current challenges, and what you’d like from therapy. You don’t need to prepare — just come as you are.

Yes. I offer couples therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help partners understand their patterns, communicate with more clarity and compassion, and rebuild trust and connection.

Great question. That varies a LOT. It depends on your goals, the depth of the work you want to do, and what feels sustainable. Some clients come for short-term support; others prefer deeper, longer-term work. Some clients find that regular therapy is so beneficial that they keep coming for years — to get and stay healthier. There’s no pressure — we’ll decide together.

Hey! I’m Marlys.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addictions Counselor in Colorado.
I work from a place of profound respect and genuine curiosity.
Before becoming a therapist, I had other careers and jobs: writer, photographer, massage therapist, editor, college writing instructor, park ranger, environmental education teacher, barista, plant caretaker, and restaurant worker.
I've lived in several parts of the U.S. I’ve rescued a lot of cats.
I really enjoy traveling, hiking, hooping, bicycling, dancing — and snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing, especially in warm water.
All of these experiences have helped fuel my attempt to better understand the human condition and color my approach to therapy. I really enjoy getting know people on a deeper level.
